Rahat Indori was born on 1 January 1950 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. His father’s name was Raftullah Qureshi, who was an employee of a textile mill, and his mother’s name was Maqbool Un Nisha Begum.
Rahat ji had two elder sisters whose names were Tehzeeb and Takreeb, an elder brother Akeel and then a younger brother Adil. The financial condition of the family was not very good and Rahat ji had to face a lot of difficulties in the initial days. He started working as a sign-painter in his own town when he was less than 10 years old. Painting was one of his areas of interest and very soon earned a lot of fame. He became Indore’s busiest signboard painter in no time. Because of his talent, extraordinary design skills, brilliant color sense and imagination that’s why he is famous too. This was also a period when it was acceptable for customers to wait months to receive boards painted in relief. The paint done for the shops here can be seen on many signboards in Indore even today.
He married twice. His wives name is Anjum Rahbar (1988–1993), Seema Rahat. His children’s names are Son’s name Faisal Rahat, Sutlej Rahat and his daughter’s name is Shibli Irfan.
Rahat Indori :Education
His early education took place in Nutan School, Indore. He completed his graduation in 1973 from Islamia Karimia College, Indore and did his MA in Urdu Literature in 1975 from Barkatullah University, Bhopal. Thereafter, in 1985, obtained PhD degree in Urdu literature from Madhya Pradesh Bhoj Open University, Madhya Pradesh.

Rahat Indori had also been a professor of Urdu literature at Devi Ahilya University, Indore. He started presenting lions at the age of just 19 years.
